/* ............... START ............... */
# First method by using "In" in Python
str = "Welcome to python programming"
print("python" in str)
print("Java" in str)
# Second method by using "Find()" in Python
str = "Python string find testing"
print(str.find("find")) # returns the index where it is found the string starts
# Below two cases it will return -1 as the entries is not found in the string
print(str.find("tttt"))
print(str.find("tfff"))
/* ............... END ............... */
Output
Notes:
-
By using "in" operation in Python we can check that string contains string which is checking. In the above program you can see that first checking that "python" exists in the string by using "print("python" in str)" it will return true value and next it checks for "Java" but return false.
- Another method of Python string contains check is by using find() method. Find() method will returns the index of the string where it is matched. You can see in the program that it is checking for "Find" string and return values as 14 (Index). That means string "find" starts from the index 14.
- If no matching string is found it will return -1 mentioning that no string searched is found in the given string.
